Crafting a Timeless Album Experience

The Cowboy Junkies, a renowned Canadian alternative country/blues/folk rock band formed in 1985, faced a unique challenge with their upcoming album release, Such Ferocious Beauty. While they had the songs and cover art ready, they needed expert layout, inset design, print-ready files for the album and a special release booklet. They turned to Barking Frog Creative for creative direction and design expertise to bring their vision to life.

For their new album, they needed a professional layout, inset design, and print-ready files. 

Special Release Booklet

Michael Timmins wanted to recreate his songwriting notebooks and combine them with the CD for a special release. These notebooks contained his writings from sessions in a converted barn in Eugenia Falls during the spring of 2021.

Barking Frog Creative developed a complete solution that met each challenge head-on.

Step One: Album Design

Barking Frog Creative expanded on the chosen themes and imagery to craft a cohesive design for the vinyl album, CD, and insets. They also produced print-ready files, ensuring that the final products were of the highest quality for production.

Step Two: Special Release Booklet

Barking Frog Creative collaborated with a local print shop in Owen Sound to match the paper and cover perfectly, creating an authentic memento for fans. They also designed and coordinated the booklet to reflect the intimate and creative process behind the album.
